Maria Juanes

            Funeral mass for Maria Salas Juanes, age 70, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Cory D. Stanley, pastor, officiating. Rosary service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

            Mrs. Juanes passed away Saturday, July 07, 2018, at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.

            She was born April 10, 1948, in Durango, Mexico, to Nicolas and Josefa (Ramirez) Salas. She grew up in Mexico and came to the United States. In 1980, she moved to Frederick. She worked in housekeeping at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Center from 1981 to 1997. Then from 1997 until the time of her death, she worked as a certified nurse’s aide at Frederick Memorial Nursing Center. She loved to care for the elderly. She loved to crochet and sew. She enjoyed cooking, especially for her grandkids. She always made tamales, especially at Christmas time. She was a Catholic.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers and sisters; and a granddaughter: Mayra DeeAnn Juanes.

            Survivors include three sons: Cesar Juanes and wife Aida, of Frederick, Noel Juanes and wife Patty, of Tipton, Oscar Juanes and wife Alma, of Frederick; two daughters: Lupe Juanes and husband Jim McNier, of Frederick, and Alma Juanes, of Frederick; grandchildren: Oliveah Juanes, Elena Santiago, Alyxs Santiago, Maria Juanes, Tracy Flores Ball, Leanna Flores, Colten Wolfe, Nelson Wolfe, Bryant Flores, Kynzee Carpenter, Andrew Ramos and fiancé Estafania, Isaac Ramos, Jesus Ramos and Maddox Enriquez;  great grandchildren: Leo Ramos, Amelia Ramos, Kenleigh Wolfe, Casen Wolfe, Stevie Wolf and Whitley Wolfe; and also two parakeets and a special four-legged friend: her Shih-Tzu dog Gypsie.
