Calvin Southerland

            Funeral service for Calvin Levoy Southerland, age 71, of Tipton, Oklahoma, was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Tipton with Rev. Johnny Flores officiating.             Mr. Southerland passed away Wednesday, March 07, 2018, at his home. Burial was in the Tipton Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish & Tipton Funeral Homes.             He was born February 3, 1947, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Ernest “Chig” and Parthena (Muchmore) Southerland.  Calvin loved dancing, singing karaoke (especially Conway Twitty). He loved spending time with family. He enjoyed drinking coffee at Hop & Sak every morning. He never met a stranger. Everyone that knew him heard about the love of his life Catherine Ann. He had a nickname for everybody. He loved watching his Dallas Cowboys. He loved his nephews and enjoyed shooting pool with them.             He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Laura Southerland; and his brother: Herman Southerland, on March 6, 2018 (one day before his own death).             Survivors include the love of his life: Catherine Ann Melton, of Borger, Texas; a daughter: Patricia Southerland, Borger, Texas; four brothers: Rocky, Bobby and Jeff; eight sisters: Virginia Flores, Barbara Trichell, Peggy Stevens, Oreda Smith, Kay Meza, Patty Flores, Rozelma “Ann” Simpson, and Debora Southerland; five grandchildren: Jennifer Jones, Shanell Bumgarner, Starla Bumgarner, Shyann Wilkinson and Segar Jones; seven great grandchildren: Ashlyn Jones, Nashiah Norman, Gunnar Jones, Alizae Walker, Amiah Myer, Zaiden Walker and Tayden Walker; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
