Graveside service for Margaret Dobbs Qualls, age 96, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Davidson Cemetery, Davidson, Oklahoma, with Reverend Chris Dodson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Frederick, officiating. Mrs. Qualls passed away Monday, February 26, 2018, at Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick. Burial was under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. She was born at home on September 17, 1921, in Davidson to Luther Columbus and Walsie (Willis) Dobbs, and was the second oldest of four girls. She attended all 12 years of school in Davidson, where she played basketball and sang with the Harmonettes. On June 29, 1941, she married David Allen Qualls from Davidson, and the two were married 29 years until Allen’s death in 1971 in Odessa, Texas. She was an excellent caretaker of her husband, who suffered from an auto-immune disease for many years. Margaret was an exceptional cook and seamstress. In 1972, she moved to Frederick to be close to her parents and sisters and worked in the kitchen at Prather Brown. She also made custom drapes for many years. She loved working in the yard, and was an expert “weed eater.” She was passionate about watching her football teams: the Oklahoma University Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys. Margaret loved adventure and last August, at the age of 95, rafted down the Animas River in Durango, Colorado, with her son, grandson, their wives and great granddaughters: Catalina and Sophia. Family was everything to Margaret, and she will be greatly missed. She was a Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Frederick, Oklahoma. She is survived by two sisters: Jayme Culbreathe and Su Clifton, both of Frederick; one son: Stephen Allen Qualls and wife Toni, of Murrieta, California; one daughter: Sue Ann Kauffman, of Frederick; four grandchildren: Helen Tomlin and husband Gary, of Ridgecrest, California, Christie Michael and husband Shawn, of Corona, California, Julie Burke and husband Rod, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Cody Qualls and wife Sunshine, of Costa Rica; nine great grandchildren: Rachel Loscar and husband Joshua, Ryan Rumph, Regan Rumph, Rebecca Rumph, Kaity Vogel and husband David, Ben Michael, Jake Newlan, Catalina Qualls, and Sophia Qualls; three great-great grandchildren: Aaron, Levi and Gideon; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant brother: Gerald Vance Dobbs and one sister: Lutherine Wright.
