James H. "Zeke" Tyler

            Graveside service for James Herman “Zeke” Tyler, age 93, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Morgan, pastor of Tesca Baptist Church, officiating.             Mr. Tyler passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Memorial Nursing Center, in Frederick.             Burial with U.S. Army military honors was under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. Family and friends visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.             He was born September 28, 1924, in Manitou, Oklahoma, to Hubert “Hub” and Rebecca (Colvin) Tyler. Zeke was the fourth of seven children raised on a farm near the current Lake Frederick location. He attended Manitou School and later joined the U.S. Army. He served in World War II in Europe in the 1st Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment. He was honorably discharged on July 24, 1946, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was a World War II Honoree, a Qualified Sharpshooter Carbine, and he was awarded the Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupation Ribbon (Germany). He was united in marriage to Alice Louise Hickerson on September 29, 1945, at Frederick, Oklahoma. They made their home in Frederick. They were blessed with two sons: James Michael and Gary Keith. Zeke was a retired union pipefitter.             In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Louise on December 2, 2007; three brothers: Clarence Tyler, William “Bill” Tyler and Robert Tyler; and two sisters: Marie Gray and Peggy Gray.             Survivors include his sons and their wives: Mike and Lou Tyler and Gary and Julie Tyler; a sister: Stella Mae Barnard, of Fort Supply, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Jeff Tyler, Eric Tyler, Michael Tyler, Michelle Parker, Bret Tyler, Todd Tyler, Kristen Pineda, Matthew Tyler; 18 great grandchildren;and seven great great grandchildren.             Memorial contributions may be sent to the Tillman County Historical Society, P.
