Julie Sweeden

August 30, 1952 — February 19, 2018

Julie went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 19, 2018. She passed away at her home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, at the age of 65 years. She was a member of Lighthouse Chapel. She was born on August 30, 1952 in Lawton, Oklahoma at Fort Sill Army Base. Julie married Raymond Sweeden on January 13, 1982. They became proud parents of a son (Ronnie) on May 19, 1973, and a daughter (Josette) on January 18, 1984. Julie loved children and taught Sunday school to three and four year olds for many years. She was a woman of compassion and she loved helping and taking care of people. Along the way, Julie served as a home health provider where she cooked and cleaned for folks who could not do those things for themselves. She loved to meet new people and make new friends. Julie and Raymond also appreciated a nice looking yard. Some say…Raymond and Julie had the prettiest yard in Broken Bow for the past nine years. They had moved from Frederick, Oklahoma to Broken Bow, Oklahoma to be closer to their daughter (Josette) and son-in-law (Alvie Evans), and , of course, their beautiful granddaughters, Julia and Penny Evans. Julie really enjoyed crocheting and made some really nice pieces. She also loved dogs. She always had dogs, and they were lucky to have her. Julie loved and enjoyed many things, which included spending time with friends and family, listening to Gospel music and reading the word of God from her bible. Yes, she did love gospel music, especially if Elvis was singing. Elvis was very special to Julie, and she didn’t mind you knowing it. And if you ever wanted to perk her up a little…just ask her if she wanted to go to Walmart and then stop by McDonalds to get a “Happy Meal”. Most of the time, she would be the first one in the car. Later in her life, Julie loved to get her granddaughters (Julia and Penny) on her power chair and go for a little ride. Those girls were her world and Julia and Penny have those special and precious memories to cherish all their lives. She leaves her legacy for caring, kindness, and prayer in our hearts and in our minds. Her passing leaves us with a great void that will forever remain. We are both fortunate and thankful for the opportunity to have been blessed with sharing her life, her dreams, her thoughts, her stories, her faith, and her great enduring love.  She was dearly loved by a multitude of people. She cherished that love and kept us all in a special part of her heart. We will miss her greatly, but we will always have her with us as we hold her life, her memories, and her love in her special place within our own hearts. Thank you Julie (Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Daughter)…we love you.           Julie Lafaye Sweeden’s passing was preceded by the passing of John Mathews (father), Jackie Dean Mitchell (step father), and Josette Mathews (sister). She leaves to cherish her memory: Raymond (husband of 36 years),  Wanda Mitchell (mother), Josette & Alvie Evans (daughter & son-in-law), Ronnie Ashmore (son), Rachel Briggs (daughter), Linda & Bill Krause (sister & brother-in-law), John Mathews (brother), Jerry & Brenda Mathews (brother & sister-in-law), Robert Mathews (brother), and four grandchildren; Julia Evans, Penny Evans, Michelle Martinez, Adriana Briggs, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved Grandma Marcum and her beloved sister Josette Marie Mathews. Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home111 N. 11th StreetFrederick, OK 73542   (580) 335-2112"Since 1905"
