Funeral for Gerrell Lee Jones, age 76, of Wichita Falls, Texas, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. Prior to the funeral, a memorial service was held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Legacy Church of God, in Wichita Falls, Texas, with Pastor John Gardner, officiating. Mr. Jones passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his home in Wichita Falls. He was born May 3, 1941, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, to Jack and Esther (O’Rear) Jones. He attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School. He entered the United States Army on January 17, 1966. He served honorably overseas in Germany as at tank mechanic. He was honorably discharged on December 23 1968, as SP5. He was united in marriage to Frieda Landrum on July 5, 1969, in Frederick, Oklahoma, at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Floyd officiating. Gerrell went in to the carpentry business with his brother, but then became self-employed as a carpenter and cabinet maker. His specialty was working home building and finishing up the carpentry and cabinetry. He was a proud Boy Scouts of America Leader for many years. Scouting and wood making were his passions. He was a member of the Legacy Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Tommy Jones; twin sister: Gladys Brewer; and a sister: Dora McQuilliams. Survivors include his wife: Frieda Jones, of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sons: Steven Jones and wife Melanie, of Fort Worth, Texas, and David Jones and wife Crystal, of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother Jack Jones and wife Alma, Wichita Falls, Texas, three sisters: Karen Morrel and husband Al, of Florida; Shirley Cross, of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Susie Jensen and husband A.
