Jerry Bremer

June 26, 1932 — April 12, 2017

Jerry Bremer went to be the Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2007. He passed away in Carrollton, Texas, at the age of 84 years, nine months and 17 days. He was born to Hazel Dottie (Rhea) Bremer and Francis John Bremer on June 26, 1932, in Iola, Kansas. Two years later, his younger brother, Jack, was born. Their father worked for Standard Oil Company and Lesh Oil Company for many years, and later was President of Permanent Casting Company in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Francis died after a long bout with cancer. Hazel, who taught in public schools, died on July 29, 2001. Jerry went through elementary and secondary schools in Iola, and high school in Ottawa, Kansas. He was active in musical activities and was an outstanding athletic. He graduated with a degree in education from Ottawa University, in Ottawa, Kansas and taught English in high school. He was listed among Outstanding Students in Colleges and Universities in America. During high school, he developed “premature degeneration of the central retina” in his eyes—a debilitating condition with which he had to live throughout his life. This limited his activities—unable to drive or to read—and he learned to read Braille. Through college, he depended on several readers, including his younger brother Jack, to read to him class assignments in literature. Jerry was active in church, teaching classes of church members, and enjoyed community activities. He followed his father as President of Permanent Casting Company.             With his first wife, Ruth Bremer, he had two sons, Marc and Eric. She died on February 7, 2004.  Jerry married Doris Beulah (Woodfin) Easley of Dallas, on March 4, 2000. Doris has two daughters, June and Julie. Jerry was a dedicated scholar, and was known for his strong Christian faith. At this time of the year, he would often be heard saying of Christ: “He is risen!” And we would reply: “Risen, indeed!”Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home111 N. 11th StreetFrederick, OK 73542(580) 335-2112
