Ricky Lynn "Rick" Guill went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. He passed away in Altus, Oklahoma, at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 20 days. He was born February 25, 1958, in Arlington, Texas, to John Crocket Guill and Florene (Coker) Guill. He grew up and attended schools in Odessa, Texas. Rick moved to Frederick when he accepted a job as a police officer with the City of Frederick on December 8, 1980. He continued to work on the force and received several promotions, and on July 1, 1993, he became the Assistant Chief of Police. Then, on March 1, 1997, he was appointed the Chief of Police and held that post with the department until his retirement on March 22, 2013. After he retired from the Frederick Police Department, he continued to “protect and serve” in law enforcement, working for Sheriff Bobby Whittington at the Tillman County Sheriff Department up until the time of his death. Rick was united in marriage to Melinda “Mendy” McAbee on April 19, 1990, in Frederick. Rick had a passion for playing softball and tennis and he had a tremendously competitive spirit. He also enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends. He loved his family. He was a member of the Frederick Church of Nazarene. Upon its closing, he and Mendy moved their membership to the Tesca Baptist Church, where he led singing. More recently, they had attended the First United Methodist Church of Frederick. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Royce Dale Guill; and a granddaughter: Heaven Leigh. Survivors include his wife: Mendy, of the home in Frederick, Oklahoma; three sons: Brent Guill and wife Kathleen, of Frederick, Michael Guill and wife Christine, also of Frederick, and Jon Guill and wife Katie, of Elgin, Oklahoma; two daughters: Hannah Castaneda and husband Auney, of Frederick and Mallory Johnson; two brothers: Autry Guill and James Guill, both of Texas; 16 grandchildren: William, Aiden, Reilly, Mercadies, Zachary, LuLu, Max, Elijah, Justen, Jacoby, Madelyn, Mianna, Kaelani, Ella, Emma and Milo.
