Evelyn Peter

       Evelyn Maxine Peter went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2016. She passed away in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years and two months. She was born September 13, 1920, at Hollister, Oklahoma, to Salathial Hudson Kinder and Minnie Mae (Wearmouth) Kinder. She graduated from Loveland High School as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1938. She graduated from Central State Teacher’s College at Edmond in 1942. Her first teaching job was 1st grade in Davidson, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to William Earl Peter on March 1, 1947. He passed away December 6, 2002. She retired in 1986 from Weaver School after 41 years of teaching. She and William took tours across the United States, Canada and the British Isles. She was involved in AAUW and PEO. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and later attended the First United Methodist Church.            She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four sisters: Mabel Kinder, Gladys Malone, Anna Mae Kinder and Venice Rackley; and a brother: Howard Kinder             Survivors include two sons: Randy R. Peter and wife Virginia A., of Oklahoma City, and Nick Peter and wife Lorrie, of Marion, Kansas; a daughter: Dianne Degan and husband Larry, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
