Helen Jane (Jensen) Hazel went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 16, 2016. She passed away in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 80 years, six months and 26 days. She was born February 21, 1936, in Cookietown, Oklahoma, to Andrew Christian Jensen, Sr. and Gladys Lucille (Dean) Jensen. As a young girl, she began piano lessons and continued through her high school years and she became a very accomplished pianist. She graduated from Manitou High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1954, where she was an outstanding basketball player as well. She attended Draughon’s Business College in Wichita Falls, Texas. She worked at Fort Sill in a civil service clerical position. She was united in marriage to Ernest “Lowell” Hazel on April, 27, 1957, at the First Baptist Church of Manitou. She worked as secretary for the Frederick First Baptist Church for 10 years and then she worked for John Hartwig Accounting. She also farmed alongside her husband Lowell for more than 30 years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was instrumental in establishing and operating the Chapel on Wheels ministry for grade school kids. She loved to read and study the Bible as well as other spiritual books and resources about scripture. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law: Smokey Szatkowski; and a sister-in-law: Kathy Jensen. Survivors include her husband: Lowell Hazel, Frederick, Oklahoma; three daughters: Sharon Martin and husband Dean, of Vernon, Texas, Sandra LaBarge, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Leanna Luce and husband Doug, of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers: A.C. Jensen, Jr. and wife Susie, and Frank Jensen, all of Manitou, Oklahoma; a sister: Christine Szatkowski, of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren: T.J., Traci, Tiffani, Amber, Brysin, Jacob, Canaan and Levi; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home111 N. 11th StreetFrederick, OK 73542(580) 335-2112
