Christine Neely

            Christine Neely went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She passed away in Marlow, Oklahoma, at the age of 97 years, two months and three days. She was born May 2, 1919, at Anderson Flat, Oklahoma, to James C. and Ida May (Graham) Neugent. She attended Ravia School, Ravia, Oklahoma. She lived in Lawton and Elgin in the 1940’s. Then she lived in Frederick and Temple. She worked as a cook for the Frederick Hospital for 26 years, until her retirement in 1992, at the age of 73. She loved her family and she loved her work. She was loyal to friends and family. She enjoyed traveling. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge 224 IOOF, in Frederick. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Temple, Oklahoma.             She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Spencer Charlie Schafer and Orpha Neely; a son: Charles E. Schafer; two daughters: Loretta Sue Schafer and Irma Ruth Schafer; a brother: C. M. Neugent; and six sisters: Thelma Wiggs, Dona Plumtree, Hazel Neely, Georgia Harless, Clorene Brown and Ida Talbert.             Survivors include four sons: Donald J. Schafer, of Florida, Albert A. Schafer, of Georgia, Ronald D. Schafer, of Dallas, Texas, and I. J. Higgins, of Colorado; three daughters: Betty L. Bly, of Elgin, Oklahoma, Emma L.
