Lela Mae Ballard went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2016. She passed away in Snyder, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 29 days. She was one day shy of her 87th birthday. She was born April 29, 1929, at Whitesboro, Texas, to Clyde and Janie (Yoakum) Whitmore. She attended grade school in Sherwood, Oklahoma. She moved to Frederick at the age of 13 and attended Frederick schools. She was united in marriage to Troice Ballard on September 18, 1948, in Vernon, Texas. She worked at Centra-Leather Goods factory for over 20 years. She loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed going to the lake and camping. She was an excellent seamstress and avidly sewed for family and friends. She served as a DAV Auxiliary and a hospital volunteer for many years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Cecil Whitmore and Sherman Whitmore; and two sisters: Estelle Britton and Lela’s twin Lola Mae Rogers; and a granddaughter: Wendee Anderson. Survivors include her husband: Troice Ballard, of the home in Frederick, Oklahoma; two sons: Troice Donald Ballard, Frederick, Oklahoma, and Richard Dale Ballard and wife Rosemary, of Oklahoma City; four daughters: Glenda Kay Barbosa and husband John, Irving, Texas, Barbara Gayle Anderson and husband Tom, of Snyder, Oklahoma, Anita Jane Calvillo, Oklahoma City, and Clara Sue Turner, of Amarillo, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home111 N. 11th StreetFrederick, OK 73542 (580) 335-2112
