May 13, 1954 — March 3, 2016

Leola Adams went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2016. She passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 61 years, nine months and 20 days. She was born the youngest of 11 children, on May 13, 1954, in Clinton, Oklahoma to Louise and Robert Adams, Sr.  She was a lifelong member of St. Paul African Methodist Church, in Frederick, Oklahoma, where she worked in any and every capacity. Leola “Baby Sister, Lee-Lee, Little Lee” attended O. E. Kennedy Elementary, Boyd Junior High and graduated from Frederick High School in the class of 1972. She continued her formal education at Langston University, along with her “sidekicks” Kim Shaw and Brenda Johnson. Leola attended Langston University in 1976, where she was a proud member of the Langston Marching Band, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. While at Langston Leola met and married her college “sweetheart”, Ellis Franklin. To this union two children were born, Ellis Franklin, Jr. and Ellisha Louise Franklin. Leola was a long time resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Frederick. She worked for and retired from the Oklahoma City Public School District and the Homeland Corporate Office. She was a proud devoted member of J. L. Black Order of the Eastern Star and later became a member of Galedas Order of the Eastern Star #93 and Sara B. Mosley Court #73 Heroines of Jericho. But, she was most proud to become a member of the first female Black Sorority in 1991, none other than the Sigma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.!        Family and friends were Leola's passion and delight. She was the light and life of every event, party and family gathering. Leola was a rare and special person and you knew it while in her presence. She had a multitude of friends and an ability to extend herself to others. Leola was beautiful inside and out with a heart and spirit that radiated unconditional love and kindness. She took great care in the nurturing of her family and friendships. Her passion was playing bingo and gaming. She looked forward to going to Remington Park every Tuesday.       She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Louise Adams; her step father, C. L. Nelson, three sisters: Dee and Dorothy Williams and Rose Singleton; three brothers: Henry Adams, Wilbert Adams and Clarence Williams.       Mourning her transition include her children: Ellis Franklin Jr., Ellisha (Chris) Franklin-Arumugam; a nephew: Dirvie Adams, whom she treated as her own and helped raise; five sisters: Thelma Brown, Mildred Harding, Willie (Van) Greene, Delores (Arthur) Cayton-Patrick and Joyce Thurman; two brothers: Robert Adams Jr. and Michael Adams; also mourning her loss is her companion of many years Kenneth Bryant. There are many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends that will sorely miss our, Leola. Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home(580) 335-2112
