Ernestine Ballard

L. Ernestine Ballard went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2015. She passed away at a Snyder, Oklahoma, nursing care center, at the age of 85 years, three months and 29 days. She was born March 18, 1930, at Carter County, Oklahoma, to Edgar Ernest and Nola Lucille (Hunter) Kirkpatrick. They moved from Bromide, Oklahoma, to Harlingen, Texas, where Ernestine attended school and graduated from Rio Hondo High School with the Class of 1947. She moved to be near family Jess and Rena Walton, of Frederick, Oklahoma. She worked at the drug store in Frederick and met Floice "Sugar" Ballard. They were united in marriage on June 19, 1948, in Vernon, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2009. She worked for many years and retired from Centra Leather Goods and continued to work with her husband at Ballard Automotive until Sugar retired. Ernestine was deeply loved by her family and friends and community in which she lived and loved. She will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Floice Edgar Ballard. Survivors include two sons: Dennis Ray Ballard, of Florida, and Larry Samuel Ballard and wife Cheryl, of Forney, Texas; a daughter-in-law: Ann Ballard, of Norwood, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Cliff Ballard, Denise Ballard and husband Jerry Gilmore, Branden Ballard, Trent Ballard and wife MaLaura, Amber Jones and husband Nick, Katie Ballard, Chad Ballard; great 11 grandchildren: Kennedy, Taylor, Carlee, Winston, Britten, Trinity, Johnathon, Annistyn, Maggie, MaKaela and Kiera; a great great grandchild: Blair; brother-in-laws: Troice "Fatty" Ballard and wife Lela Mae, Doyal Clinton Ballard and wife Patsy, and Charlie Johnson Ballard and wife Pam; sister-in-law: Mary (Ballard) Hostak and husband Jim; a cousin: "Cork" Walton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
