James Ray Polk went to be with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, June 25, 2015. He passed away at the Memorial Nursing Center, Frederick, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years, seven months and three days. He was born November 23, 1934, in Grandfield, Oklahoma, to Knox and Juanita Polk. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1954. He served honorably in the United States Army in the 296th Military Police Company, Fort. Lewis, Washington from 1955-1957, then in the United States Army Reserve until 1962. He taught High School and coached sports in KMA and Munster, Texas. He later served as principal in Callisburg and Collinsville, Texas. He was also Director of the Tri-County Man Power Program in North Texas for several years. He was active in the Optimist Club of Gainesville, Texas, serving as its president. He was also instrumental in the organization of the Boy's Club of Gainesville, Texas. He was an avid fisherman and motorcyclist. He loved people and looked for the best in everyone. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife: Jean Polk of the home; three daughters: Lezlee Kocian and husband Terry, of Anna, Texas, LaRay Mims Polk and husband Jack, of Dallas, Texas, and Ashley Sutherline and husband Stephano, of Little Rock, Arkansas; a sister: Darla Reed of Auburn, Washington; two step-sons: Jason Brogden and wife Juline, of Munster, Texas and Jeff Howell of Frederick, Oklahoma. A step-daughter: Carla Loveday and husband Randy, of Frederick, Oklahoma; a granddaughter Sara Julian and husband Seth, of Anna, Texas; three great grandsons: Cole, Luke and Trey Julian of Anna, Texas. Four step-granddaughters: Lindsey Loveday of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Delanie Howell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Deighton Howell of Frederick, OK and Dannyn Howell of Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
