Hoyt W McDaniel

Hoyt "W" (Mac) McDaniel went to be with the Lord on Saturay, June 20, 2015. He passed away at a VA Center in Long Beach, California, at the age of 95 years, three months and eight days. He was born March 12, 1920, in Jacksonville, Texas, to John Washington and Grace Clifford (Whitfield) McDaniel. He attended school at Cove Springs, Texas. He moved with his family to Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and he attended West Jack Creek School and then graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1940. On March 8, 1941, he entered the United States Marine Corps at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He served in World War II in the Central and South West Pacific as well as the Western Pacific (engaged in battles at Midway Island and Western Caroline Islands). He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant on April 22, 1947, at San Diego, California. He was united in marriage to Louise Godfrey, of Manitou, Oklahoma, on June 23, 1946, at Alhambra Methodist Church in Alhambra, California. He worked for 32 years as an operator and service representative for Shell Gas & Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Rosewood Christian Church, in Compton, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife: Louise (Godfrey) McDaniel, on March 7, 2011. Survivors include a daughter: Grace Ann Johnson and husband Bob, of Fountain Valley, California; two granddaughters: Larissa Perkins and Suzanne Johnson; two great grandchildren: Abigail and Andrew; and several nieces and nephews.
