Dorothy Marie (Jordan) Goodwin went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. She passed away in Montrose, Colorado, at the age of 95 years and 11 months. She was born on June 27, 1919, at Meridian, Texas, to Johnnie Monroe and Vivan Jerusha (Burdick) Jordan. She attended schools in Hollister, Chattanooga, and graduated from Grandfield High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1938. She attended college and graduated from Howard Payne College in May of 1942. After college, she taught school for a short period. She was united in marriage to Virgil Goodwin on December 20, 1942, at Vernon, Texas, with her father performing the ceremony. She and Virgil met at the hospital in Frederick and after their marriage, they moved to Forth Worth where he attended seminary while pastoring at Oklaunion, Texas. Their first pastorate after graduation was at the First Baptist Church of Faxon, Oklahoma. In all, upon retirement, they ministered to nine different churches and served in five different states including Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, South Dakota and South Carolina. Most recently she had lived in Arkansas and in Colorado since 2012. She loved the Lord, loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Virgil Goodwin, on October 2, 2004; and a sister: Lucile Lewis. Survivors include two sons: John Louis Goodwin and wife Lydia, of Nucla, Colorado, and James Goodwin and wife Paula, of Brunswick, Georgia; one daughter: LouAnn Hebron and husband Jim, of Vandervoort, Arkansas; one sister: Janie Ann Bryan and husband Bob, of Belen, New Mexico; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
