Thomas F. "Tommy" Russell went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 24, 2014. He passed away at the Frederick Memorial Hospital & Physicians Group, following a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 75 years, three months and 13 days. Burial will be in the Tipton Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Tipton Funeral Home. Viewing will be Friday (8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.), and Saturday (8:30 a.m. to Noon), at the funeral home, 220 E. Main, Tipton, Oklahoma. He was born September 11, 1939, in Tipton, Oklahoma, to Clyde and Dorothy (Michael) Russell. He attended Tipton schools and lived most of his life in Tipton; however, he also lived in Geronimo, Oklahoma, while raising his children. He was united in marriage to Mary Lee Wolfe on May 23, 1958, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and often said he had at one time or another worked for everybody in Tipton. He also worked for many years as the maintenance manager for the Tipton Housing Authority. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Larry Russell and Donald Russell; and one sister: Mary Hatcher. Survivors include his wife: Mary Russell, of the home in Tipton, Oklahoma; three sons: Greg Russell, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Mark Russell and wife Nancy, of Tipton, Oklahoma, and Scott Russell and wife Cecilia, of Wylie, Texas; three daughters: Kathy Fox and husband Jerry, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, Sherri Nida and husband Dale, of Oklahoma City, and Vikki Russell, of Lawton, Oklahoma; siblings: twins- Houie Ray Russell, of Graham, Texas, and Louie Mae McMenamin, of Walters, Oklahoma, and Norman Russell, of Lawton, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren that he loved to spend time with and were a joy to him; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
