Dorothy Cheek

Dorothy Venita Cheek went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 1, 2014. She passed away in Frederick, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years, five months and seven days. She was born May 25, 1927, in Nashville, Arkansas, to Oscar Lee and Dellia Inez (Plumlee) Murphy. She graduated from high school at Blue Ridge, Texas, with the Class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Cheek on June 8, 1946, at Vernon, Texas. In 1965, they moved from Loveland to Davidson, and then to Frederick in 1994. She worked for Betsy Bra for over 20 years as a supervisor. She then worked as a Teacher's Aid for Davidson Schools for 14 years. She later worked as an Insurance Clerk for Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement in 1994. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed sewing and had a passion for gardening. She was an awesome cook and baker and love went into everything she prepared. She was a member of Tesca Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Kenneth, on April 27, 2005; four sisters: Bessie Murphy (stillborn), Era Jean Hardin, Delphia Inez Bowden and Betty Ruth Plumbtree; and a brother: Oscar Lee Murphy, Jr. Survivors include four daughters: LaDonna Sanders, Frederick, Oklahoma; Rita Pate, Grapevine, Texas, Gayle Cosgrove, Frederick, Oklahoma, and Shannon Wells and husband Mike, of Norman, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: Randy McLain and wife Lou Ann, Ricky McLain, Robin Coronado and husband Mark, Scott Nease, Christopher Nease, Shaunda Ramo and husband Steven, Erin Cosgrove-Neugebauer and husband Chad, Ginger Thibault and husband Andy, and Cody Wells and wife Nicaela; 17 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
