Karla Beasley McCown

Memorial service for Karla Beasley McCown, age 51, of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, former Tipton resident, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, Burns Flat, Oklahoma, with Reverend Robert Colston, pastor, and Reverend Harold Gaches, First Baptist Church West, Lawton, Oklahoma, officiating. Karla passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at her home in Burns Flat, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Orr Gray Gish & Tipton Funeral Homes. She was born July 4, 1963, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Ed and Kay (Long) Beasley. She grew up and attended schools at Madill and graduated with the Class of 1981. She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor's degree. She later received her master's degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. She worked as a librarian at Luther Public Schools at which time she met Cliff McCown. They were united in marriage on August, 2, 1986, at Madill, Oklahoma. In 1988, they moved to Tipton and made their home there and she taught for the Tipton Public Schools both at Tipton and at Manitou. In 2008 they moved to Burns Flat, Oklahoma. She loved Cliff, her kids, her dog Sadi Jo, her family, and helping others. She enjoyed children, cooking, giving gifts, reading, movies, and decorating. She was preceded in death by her mother; her paternal grandparents: Guy and Hazel Beasley; and her maternal grandparents: JC and Berniece Long. Survivors include her father: Ed Beasley and Mary Ann, of Galveston, Texas; her husband: Cliff McCown, of the home in Burns Flat, Oklahoma; her daughter: Katy Bevers and husband Seth, also of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; a son: Garrett McCown and wife Jinna Mae, of Fairmont, Oklahoma; sister: Andrea Cordell and husband Ron, of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother: Eddy Beasley, of Russett, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews: Brittney, Brandon, Mikayla, Sarah, Rykin, Dusty, Joel, Tandi, and David.
