Parthena Lucille Southerland

Parthena Lucille Southerland went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 24, 2014. She died in Altus, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 7 days. She was born June 17, 1921, in Madill, Oklahoma, to Hugh John and Minnie Lee (Looney) Muchmore. She lived south of Madill in Marshall County and attended Madill schools until the 8th grade. She attended Kingston schools briefly, before beginning work gathering crops. She was united in marriage to Earnest Southerland on August 13, 1941, in Madill, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1990. She had 13 children in 23 years. She did some factory work through the years and was a housewife and mother. She loved to plant flowers and listen to gospel music. She also was passionate about reading her Bible. She was a member of the Tipton Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers: Alton Ray Muchmore and Clenon Alvis Muchmore; a sister: Vera Riley; and four grandchildren: Devin, Joe, Shara and Tara Southerland; son-in-law: Ralph Flores and daughter-in-law: Carrie Southerland. Survivors include five sons: Elmer Herman Southerland, Calvin Levoy Southerland, Rocky Dean Southerland (Janie), Bobby Ray Southerland, and Jeffrey Wayne Southerland (Michelle); eight daughters: Virginia Ruth Flores, Barbara Sue Trichell, Peggy Lettrell Stevens (John), Oreda Lee Smith (Tim), Alberta Kay Meza, Patty June Flores (Noel), Rozelma Ann Simpson (Gerald), and Debra Gail Southerland; and four sisters: Katie Mae Page, Mildred Edra Goodwyn, Merrel Dean Newman and Iona Estell Remnic; 32 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
