Alton Lee Livingston

Alton Lee Livingston went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He died at his home in Frederick, Oklahoma, at the age of 97 years, 11 months and 14 days. He was born February 11, 1916, at Hollister, Oklahoma, to Leva P. and Ova (Winningham) Livingston. He grew up and attended Hollister schools and graduated high school with the Class of 1932. He attended Cameron College where he and his brother Denton won the Junior Collegiate Tennis Doubles Championship. From Cameron he transferred to Oklahoma State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business in 1938. He was united in marriage to Melba Frances Farley on December 25, 1939, at Eldorado, Oklahoma. He began a lifelong endeavor of farming in Tillman County. After being drafted into the Navy, he served honorably during WW II and returned home to continue farming, raising wheat, cotton, and cattle. He loved math and had a passion for numbers; he worked as the office manager for numerous area sale barn and cattle auctions including: Vernon, Walters, Hobart, Altus, Carnegie, Lawton, Big Pasture, Grandfield and Frederick. He had a quick sense of humor and was a devoted family man, never missing a game or activity that his children were involved in. He enjoyed playing dominoes and defeated many worthy opponents. After almost 45 years of marriage, his wife Melba preceded him in death on October 8, 1984. He later married Theresa (Roberts) Dugan on October 26, 1991. They shared 17 years together until she passed away on May 28, 2009. He loved to garden and especially enjoyed planting and giving away okra. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as the Sunday School secretary for over 60 years, stepping down from that position just a few weeks ago. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wives; a sister: Esta Wagner; and a brother: Denton Livingston. He is survived by a daughter: Melissa Livingston and her husband Joe Goggans, of Dallas, Texas; a son: James Livingston and wife Lyn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; stepchildren: Dale, Dean and Don Dugan, Debra Dugan Nicholas, Darla Woodruff and husband Chris; a sister: Thelma Dibble, of Indiana; two grandchildren: Lee Livingston and wife Annie and Ann Hynecek and husband Bryan; two great grandchildren: Holt Livingston and Cooper Hynecek and one on the way.
