Blanche Davis went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. She passed away at Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years, 10 months, and 17 days. She was born on August 22, 1920, to William Watson and Alice (English) Gover, on the family farm in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was one of eight children. She attended Union Grade School first through eighth grade. She later attended Frederick High School graduating in 1939. She played basketball that year and their team went to state at Oklahoma City. After graduating, she made her first trip to California with her married sister and family. Those mountain roads were dirt and quite narrow. She always said she was so homesick those two months. Irene, her sister, and Blanche were always close and during World War II they went to Kansas and were one of the "Rosie the Riviters" for 18 months, and then they transferred back to Oklahoma City Air Base. She and her sister returned to California where she met and married Carl Davis on February 5, 1944, at her sister's home in Bakersfield. She and Carl lived in Taft, CA, until he was sent to North Carolina to go overseas. Blanche came back to Frederick and worked at the Base in the enlisted men's payroll department. She was transferred to Randolph Field in San Antonio, TX where Carl was sent when he was discharged. They had four children as they traveled around the country working for Gulf and Mobil Oil Co. Carl was laid off and they moved back to Frederick where they ran the family farm, a Mobil service station and oil wholesale business. After several years, he went to work for Mobil Seismic and they moved to Cordell. Blanche attended L.P.N. Nursing School in Clinton, graduating in 1969. She worked for the same hospital in Clinton for 17 years. She and Carl retired in 1985. They had a 5th wheel trailer and traveled from Washington State to Orlando, FL. Blanche was baptized at the First Christian Church at the age of 8. She volunteered at the Frederick Hospital and Food Bank since 1985. She was active in C.W.F. at the Christian Church. She belonged to the Black Katz Club and earlier a bridge club. She loved her family and enjoyed numerous holidays with Aunt Anna Lee and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband Carl; four brothers: Allen, Sam, Roy, and Bill; and three sisters: Mary Alice Ellis, Anna Lee Fulbright, and Irene Kamline. She is survived by two sons: Bobby and wife Donell, of Fort Cobb, and Kenneth and wife Janie, of Kingfisher; two daughters: Jogay Renshaw and husband Jerry, of Elgin, and Jean Hibbs and husband Melvin Glenn, of Dibble; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
