Verna Belle Howell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She passed away at Frisco, Texas, at the age of 97 years, 3 months, and 30 days. She was born on February 5, 1916, to James Arthur and Fannie Victoria (Bruner) Harris, on the Harris family home one mile east of Frederick, Oklahoma. Verna attended grade school at Frederick Public Schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1934. She married Carl William Adams on January 14, 1933, and they resided at the Adams family homestead, route 2, Alpine community, Frederick, until Carl's death in July 1966, when she moved to town. Verna and Carl were wonderful parents and strong influences in their churches, Tesca Baptist Church and later Trinity Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, Sunday evening classes and worked tirelessly in Vacation Bible School. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She married Burl Howell in 1969. He passed away in December 1972. She worked many years in the factories southeast of Frederick and later was part of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Dietary staff. She moved to the Hotel Frederick in 2002. Then in 2005, after an illness, her son moved her to an assisted living facility in North Richland Hills, Texas, so he could watch over her. As her health worsened, she was moved to Prairie Estates Skilled Nursing Facility in Frisco, Texas until her passing. At the same time, her son moved one mile from her continuing to monitor her health and care. God was very good to Verna, blessing her with two wonderful men in her life and caring for her so lovingly throughout her later years.
