Josephine Johnson

Josephine (Henry) Johnson went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013. She died at Mary Immaculate Hospital, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 98 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was born on May 6, 1914, to James Sherman and Nancy (Harrold) Henry, in Kilgore County, Texas. She was reared and attended school in Kilgore County. She united with the El Bethel Baptist church in Kilgore at an early age and maintained her membership there for many years. She retired from Pioneer Manor Nursing Home where she worked for over 20 years in Frederick. She was preceded in death by her parents: James Sherman Henry and Nancy Harrold Henry; her husband: Ras Johnson; three sons: Charles Ray Johnson, Gene A. Johnson, and Buster Johnson; one daughter: Sunshine Evans; and three brothers: James Neal Henry, Joe Sherman, and Lester Henry. She is survived by four daughters: Christine Anderson and husband Cornelius, Carol Sue Edwards, all of Lawton; Loretta Martin and husband Anthony, and Wanda Lewis and husband Raymond, all of Newport News, VA; three sons: R. J. Johnson, of Lawton, James Johnson, of Milwaukee, WI, and John Johnson, of Newport News, VA; three sisters: Katherine Waldon, of Wichita Falls, TX, Beth L. Mayberry, of Amarillo, TX, and Labelle Sherman Henry, of Dallas, TX; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, many other relatives, and friends to cherish her loving memory.
