Mary "Maxine" Gossett went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, December 24, 2012 She died at her home in Chattanooga, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, five months and 10 days. Private interment will be in the Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. She was born July 14, 1927, in Loveland, Oklahoma, to James David Crockett and Mary Belle McClelland-Crockett. She attended school 11 years then moved to Frederick, Oklahoma, and graduated with the class of 1945. After high school, she attended Beauty School, and then worked as a Beauty Operator in Oklahoma City, Frederick and Walters. She married Warren Harden "Swede" Gossett of Loveland, Oklahoma, on July 25, 1948. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and First United Church of Loveland. Later she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Chattanooga. With a husband who had 10 brothers and sisters and families, many happy times were shared. She and her family enjoyed many Gossett and Crockett reunions held in Kansas and Oklahoma. She was a class parent for her children at Chattanooga Public Schools. She also was a sponsor, leader, Sunday School Teacher, and transporter of kids for many activities such as 4H, FFA, FHA, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Choir, and Church, and she made more sandwiches and pies than she ever dreamed of for the concession stands. She took care of her mother who lived at Frederick, until the time came for her mother to move in with her family. Her husband preceded her in death on April 27, 1997, and her mother followed shortly after. With the help of her sons and grandson Joshua, she was able to continue farming until 1998. In 2003, she made her home in Chattanooga with her daughter, Mary Lynn. In later years, she enjoyed sitting on the porch that Gale built and watching the birds that Mary kept supplied with food. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Ted Crockett and his wife Bettye; and Truman Crockett and his wife Betty; and a daughter-in-law: Barbara Gossett. She is survived by two sons: Robert Gossett, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Galen Gossett, of Faxon, Oklahoma; two daughters: Susan Lorah and husband Ray, of Burkburnett, Texas, and Mary Lynn, of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; one brother: Charles Crockett and wife Martha, of South Carolina; six grandsons: Ken Gossett, of Burkburnett, Texas, Brian Gossett and wife Dawn, of Hawkins, Texas, Jeff Gossett, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Chris Gossett and wife Christina, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Derek Gossett and wife Rachel, of Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and Joshua Kirby and wife Katie, of Cache, Oklahoma; three granddaughters: Keri Sandberg and husband Jeff, of Burkburnett, Texas, Samantha Summers and husband Frank, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Sally Jarrell, of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; 21 great grandchildren: Summer Marie, Savannah, Zane, Cullen Warren, Meagan, Lance, Lacy, Emily, Bailey, Jordan, Faith, Taylor, Ashley, Tanner Warren, Abigail, Morgan, Kacy Jo, J.W., Kashon, Kinley and Kannon; a niece Diana Korinek and husband Kurt, and great nephew Skyler, all of South Carolina.
