Lillian Mae Hestand went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2012. She passed away at an Altus nursing center at the age of 87 years, five months, and two days. She was born June 15, 1925, at Minco, Oklahoma, to Howard Franklin and Mary Dorthy (Engelke) Moor. She attended several schools in Missouri, Oklahoma and California. While in Tuttle, Oklahoma, she met Pocahontas "Poke" Hestand and they were united in marriage on September 30, 1946, at El Reno, Oklahoma. He was a widower with six children and they had four more. At the time of her marriage she was employed as a housekeeper. They made their home in Midwest City. After her husband's death, she worked as a clerk at a general store in Tuttle, Oklahoma. She later relocated to Tipton to be near family and spent 13 years working as a cook at the Tipton Children's Home until her retirement. She was a member of the Tipton Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 5, 1967; a son: Samuel Hestand; a daughter: Barbara McGowan and her husband Bill; two step-sons: Bob and Ross Hestand; two step-daughters: Peggy Tedder and Sharon Davis; one step son-in-law: Joe Zangari; three brothers: Archie, Ray and Leo Moor; and two sisters: June Moor and Elsie Hestand. Survivors include two daughters: Deborah Putnam and husband Larry, and Carol Hestand, all of Tipton, Oklahoma; two step-daughters: Dora Zangari, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Pat Johnson and husband Jerry, of Ft. Worth, Texas; one step daughter-in-law: Retha Trotter, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; two step sons-in-law: Don Tedder, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Bill Davis, of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister: Lucille Etheridge, of Perkins, Oklahoma; 14 step-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
