Marie Moran went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2012. She passed away at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 30 days, in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was born on November 7, 1918, to Guy and Lillian (Luck) Hutson, in Cleburne, Texas. The family moved to Devol when Marie was seven years old. After high school, she attended Central State College receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She began her teaching career in 1940 at Devol and then moved to Hollister where she taught until moving to Frederick in 1961. Mrs. Moran taught every grade level from 1st grade to High School. Her career spanned for more than 54 years before retiring in 1995. She then worked as a substitute teacher and also was the coordinator for the school's volunteer program. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Education Association and had been honored several times as the O.E.A. member with the most years of active service and served the school district in many capacities over the years including textbook committees, chair of the teacher of the year selection committee, president of the Frederick Association of Classroom Teachers and chair for many years of the Frederick School Staff Development Committee. In 1961, she was named Tillman County Teacher of the year. She married Charles Moran on July 4, 1948, in Electra, Texas. He passed away on October 12, 1978. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Charles Moran; three brothers: Weldon Hutson, Harold Hutson, and Raymond Hutson; two sisters-in-law: Jo Hutson and Louella Hutson; two sisters: Jerry Glover and Joyce Bryan; and three brothers-in-law: J. R. Glover, Chauncey Wells and Jim Spiller. She is survived by two sisters: Jean Wells, of Moore, Oklahoma, and Mary Spiller, of Jacksboro, Texas; a sister-in-law: Virginia Hutson, of Beverly Hills, California; a brother-in-law: Jim Bryan, of Wichita Falls, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.
