Melissa Dawn Gonzalez

Melissa Dawn Gonzalez went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 30, 2012. She passed away at the age of 51 years, 8 months, and 28 days in Frederick, Oklahoma. She was born on December 3, 1960, to Jake and Linda Mae (Elmore) Payne, in Frederick, Oklahoma. She attended Frederick schools. She married Cosme Gonzalez, III, on June 17, 1978. She worked at various places in Frederick including: Dairy Queen,Wright's Donuts, Love's and convenience stores until opening her own business; Half-time restaurant with her friend Ima Gonzales where they both thoroughly enjoyed cooking for the public and also playing many pranks on friends, family and customers.(you know who you are)! In 1998 she opened Melissa's All Occasion Catering which quickly became the popular eatery of Frederick, you came in for good food and friendly hospitality. Melissa fed the Rotary Club, Lions Club and Community Action Development Corporation at their weekly/monthly meetings. Melissa was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000. She was a kind, sweet woman who would do anything for anyone. She was always willing and ready to prepare meals for families that had lost loved ones, or feeding someone who may just be down on their luck, and did so until the day of her death. She never met a stranger. Her passion was cooking, gardening and she loved decorating whether it be indoors or outdoors. Melissa dearly loved her grandchildren and each of them had a special place in her heart. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Orville Elmore; Uncles: Frank, Ronnie and Randy; and her in-laws: Mr. and Mrs. Cosme Gonzalez, Jr. She is survived by her husband: Cosme Gonzalez, III, of the home; her mother: Linda Payne and Val Lozano, of Frederick; two daughters: Stasha Carrera and special friend George Hernandez, of Frederick, Jessica Gonzalez and Josh Key, of Davidson; one brother: Russell Payne and his wife Janie, of Vernon, Texas; one sister: Gina Stanfield and her husband Todd, of Durant; three grandchildren: Alyssa, Analysia, and Audrianna; numerous nieces and nephews.
