Tom Henry McCord went to be with the Lord on his birthday, June 30, 2012. He passed away at Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. He was born on June 30, 1926, to Henry L. and Cora Lee (Ritchey) McCord, in Snyder, Oklahoma. He attended Frederick High School and graduated, he farmed with his family in the Frederick area for many years. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1946 in Oklahoma City and served eight years and was honorably discharged from March Air Force Base, Riverside, CA. He then joined the United States Army with the 45th Infantry and served in the Korean War. He received many awards and citations for his 15 years of service. He also served in the National Guard. He married Maudie Irene Baker on September 17, 1984, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. They lived in Wapanucka, Oklahoma, where he and his dad raised Charolais cattle and then moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where they resided several years before moving to Frederick, Oklahoma in 2000. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Tom resided at the Frederick Memorial Nursing Center until recently when he passed from this life on his birthday in Lawton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife on August 8, 2011. He is survived by two cousins: Robert McCord, of Frederick, OK, and Glenda Stanton, and her husband, Jimmy, of Lawton, Oklahoma.
