Benny Kirk went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at the age of 69 years, 1 month, and 21 days. He was born October 29, 1942, in rural Tipton, Oklahoma, to J. B. and Faye (Clemmer) Kirk. He grew up near Tipton and attended Laing school, then transferred in the 10th grade to Tipton High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1960. Benny worked some for his family on their farm, but his real passion was music. Benny was an avid musician. He loved to sing, play guitar and song writing. Benny lived in Nashville, Tennessee, and pursued his dreams of being a singer and song writer. When he returned home to Tipton, he worked giving guitar lessons and practicing as a musician. He also lived in Altus and then Indiahoma. He is survived by a daughter: Lynette Kirk and her husband Thomas Ellis, of Fellsmere, Florida; three grandchildren: Ricardo Barton, Justin Ellis and Dustin Ellis; two aunts: Vondel Witt, of Walters, Oklahoma, and Mary Bitner, of Plainview, Texas; and numerous cousins.
