Robert Joe "Bob" Kuykendall went to be with the Lord early Monday morning, November 14, 2011. He died at Frederick, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years, two months and 13 days. He was born on September 7, 1934 to Riley Nolen and Mable Clair (Wheeler) Kuykendall, in Altus, Oklahoma. He attended schools in Blair and graduated from Blair High School. He served proudly in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1972. He retired from honorable service and having received numerous medals and commendations including: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), China Service Medal (Extended), Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He received an Associate degree from Western Oklahoma State College after his military service. Bob managed the Seed House at the Tipton COOP for several years until moving to Frederick, where he kept books for John Harrington at Gibson's. Bob was the court clerk for the City of Frederick and was maintenance employee at Frederick High School. He enjoyed several part-time jobs after his second retirement such as cashier with Dollar General, courier with Fort Sill Apache Casino, and working with the census bureau doing logistical data input. He married Marthea (Callaham) Smith on June 1, 1981. He attended the Bible Baptist and First Baptist Churches. He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers: R. L., Everett Thomas, Charles Ray, John Wayne, and an infant boy; four sisters: Loretta, Wanda Juanita, Ruth Helen, and Mary Lou. He is survived by his wife: Marthea, of the home; two sons: Steven Kuykendall, of Lawton, OK, and Brandon Kuykendall, of Philadelphia, PA; two step-sons: Mel Smith, Jr., of Wilsonville, OR, and Eric M. Smith, of Frederick, OK; two brothers: Floyd "Sonny" Kuykendall and wife Midori, of Altus, OK, and Roy Dean Kuykendall and wife Mae, of Farmers Branch, TX; two sisters: Dorothy Cook, of San Jose, CA, and Jackie Mitchell and husband RT "Mitch", of Rio Linda, CA; five grandchildren: Talisha LaRue and husband Dean, of Lawton, OK, Katlyn Smith, Haley Smith, Justin Smith, and LaYana Smith, all of Frederick, OK; and a host of nieces and nephews.
