Jewell Lyons

Esther "Jewell" Lyons went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2011. She died in Altus, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years and 20 days. She was born on September 2, 1920, to Claude C. and Alma (Hart) Alexander, in Manitou, Oklahoma. She attended school at Holten Schools until the 8th grade and then transferred to and graduated from Manitou. She was employed by the City of Duncan as Credit Manager of Accounts for 13 years. She married Lewis Ryan on June 24, 1939 at Frederick, Oklahoma. Mr. Ryan preceded her in death in 1973. She married Alan Dawson on February 28, 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1995. She married Aubrey Lyons on February 18, 2007 and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2008. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, holding various offices in Sunday School and Homebound work for several years. She was a former member of Dahlia Garden Club Unit and a member of the Credit Women's Breakfast Club for many years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Alexander in 1997; her father, Claude Alexander in 1973; three husbands: Lewis Ryan, Alan Dawson, and Aubrey Lyons; and a son: Jerry Ryan, in 1996. She is survived by a sister: Elsie Kinder, of Altus, Oklahoma; three step-daughters: Betty Wolford, and LaRita Couch, of Norman, and Jolene Freeman; a niece: Darlene Kirk, of Tipton, Oklahoma; two granddaughters: Kelly McCarty, of California, and Kim Knutson, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; four great grandchildren: Kyra McCarty and Cori McCarty, of California, Russell Lee Knutson and Ryan Lewis Knutson, of Midwest City, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law: LaWanda Ryan; numerous great nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren; step-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
