Martha Schritter

Funeral service for Martha Louise (Sizer) Schritter, age 95, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, Frederick, Oklahoma. Mrs. Schritter died February 1, 2010, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. She was born August 27, 1914 in the home of her parents: George Matthew & Emma Marie (Carlson) Sizer in Chattanooga, Comanche County, Oklahoma. Martha, along with her siblings: Carl Arthur, Emma Eleanor, Gertrude Elizabeth, and Annie Margarete, attended the Lone Star School. She married Robert Schritter on August 25, 1934 in Lawton. Her parents, siblings and husband all preceded her in death as did her daughter, Shirley Ann Schritter and granddaughter, Carol Ann Salas. Martha is survived by a loving family: her son, Robert W. Schritter and his wife Linda of Mary Esther, Florida; and her daughter: Carol Marie Salas of Monterey Park, California; four granddaughters: Lisa K. Schritter-Miley & husband, David of Edmond, Shirley Marie Salas of Monterey Park, California, Mari-Lynn S. Fisher of Overland Park, Kansas, and Kristin Diane Schritter-Brown and husband, Ben of Encinitas, California; and nine great grandchildren: Andrea Aragon, Daniel James Miley, Catherine Alexandra Miley, Brittany Marie Salas, Sarah McCarroll Fisher, Jacob Riley Fisher, Sophie Elizabeth Fisher, Boaz Bolton Brown, Keani Schritter Brown and , many numerous nieces and nephew. Martha was a true pioneering woman of Tillman County who loved to paint and create heirloom quilts for her family. She will be always be treasured for her wonderful sense of humor. Martha left life as she lived it - smiling - at one of her son's favorite sayings, "Don't take any wooden nickels." Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home 580.335.2112
