Valeria "Skeeter" Knight Funeral service for Valeria "Skeeter" Knight, age 99, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Knight passed away Monday, March 16, 2009, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, Oklahoma, under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home. She was born July 19, 1909, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Hugh and Lillie (Blackwood) Akin. She grew up and attended schools in Frederick and graduated Frederick High School in 1928. She married Roy A. Knight on October 28, 1938. She was a homemaker and a longtime active member of First Baptist Church, where she taught the 5th & 6th grade Sunday School Class for years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy, on March 2, 1988; two siblings as children: Travis Akin and DeLyn Akin; brothers: Hugh L. Akin and Marshall Akin; and a sister: Lou Cele Williamson. Survivors include two daughters: Tren Hillis and husband Charles, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Patricia Goodknight, of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; a son: Dwane Knight, of San Francisco, California; a sister: Hurstene Dickey, of Duncan, Oklahoma; four grandsons: Sam Hillis and wife Mari, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Chas Hillis, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Charles Goodknight, of Austin, Texas, and Cody Goodknight, of Chattanooga, Oklahoma; and three great grandchildren: Charles Hillis, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Shayla Hillis, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Gentry Hillis, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers for the service were: Travis Akin, Hugh Akin, Chad Akin, Heath Herje, Hunter Herje, Joe Don Dickey, John Hester and John Worthington.
