Funeral service for Ruth Virginia Stewart, age 88, of Garland, Texas, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, was at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, Frederick, Oklahoma, with David Ridenour, pastor, Church of Christ Frederick, officiating. Mrs. Stewart died Sunday, January 25, 2009, at a Garland, Texas, nursing care center. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, Oklahoma, under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home. She was born on December 13, 1920, in rural Frederick, Oklahoma, to P.A. and Lois (Smyth) Johnson. She grew up and attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1938. She married Ervin Houston Stewart on October 19, 1939, in Frederick, Oklahoma. After their marriage, she and her husband lived primarily in Texas. They lived in Celina, Dallas, Irving and then moved to Garland in 1961, where she lived until her death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ervin Houston Stewart, on September 2, 1972; eight brothers and sisters: Golia Johnson, Travis Johnson, Olin Johnson, Pelham Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Joann Reynolds, Lillie Hester and Adell Clapp. She is survived by a son: Eugene Stewart and wife Wanda, of Garland, Texas; a sister: Hazel Thomason, of Frederick, Oklahoma; a brother: James Johnson, of Pasco, Washington.
