Funeral service for Bob Griffith, age 71, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brent Morey, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, Frederick, Oklahoma, officiating. Mr. Griffith passed away Friday, December 26, 2008, at an Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, hospital. Burial was in the Eastview Cemetery, Vernon, Texas, under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick, Oklahoma. He was born February 6, 1937, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Ray and Helen (Wilson) Griffith. He moved with his family at a very early age to Tillman County. He attended Hollister schools and graduated high school in 1955. Bob served honorably in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Carol Eppler on January 27, 1979, at Altus, Oklahoma. He worked most of his life as a truck driver for Jennings Trucking, Republic Gypsum, and many years for Passmore & Son Trucking. After a brief retirement in 2005, he began employment with Tillman County District 3 full time for the past year. He was an avid coyote hunter and fisherman. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister: Pat Lutzen. He is survived by his wife: Carol, of the home in Frederick, Oklahoma; a son: Keith Thomas, of Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters: Sandie Cotten and husband Tommy, of Vernon, Texas, and Penny Newman and husband Tracy, of Frederick, Oklahoma; a brother: Lynn Griffith and wife Judy, of Hollister, Oklahoma; three sister-in-laws: Johnie Baldwin, Dale Thomas and husband Mervin, and Cecilene Krebs and husband Ken, all of Vernon, Texas; seven grandchildren: Amanda Newman Gonzales, Katie Newman Kail, Brandon Cotten, Blake Cotten, Abby Cotten, Emily Thomas, and Christian Thomas; five great grandchildren: Maggie Newman, Zoe Gonzales, Caroline Kail, Evan Gonzales, and Alex Kail; and numerous nieces and nephews.
