Billy Vassar Graveside service for Billy Wayne Vassar, age 77, of Tipton, Oklahoma, was at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Tipton Municipal Cemetery with Rev. Harold Gaches, pastor First Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Vassar died Wednesday evening, July 23, 2008, in Altus, Oklahoma. Burial was under the direction of Tipton Funeral Home, Tipton, Oklahoma. Billy Wayne Vassar was born on December 22, 1930, in Crowell, Texas, to John and Leola (Jenkins) Vassar. He moved to Kansas at the age of 12. He worked in oil fields in Kansas. Later he worked with an electrician, all over the country, doing large construction jobs. After his retirement in 1994, he moved to Tipton, Oklahoma. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son: Steven Vassar; two sisters: Roberta Wallace and Joann Monroe and two brothers: Clifford Hammonds and Delmer Ray Vassar. He is survived by three sons: Roger Vassar, of Pueblo, Colorado; Mark Vassar, of Holcomb, Kansas and Johnny Vassar Terry, of Liberal, Kansas; two daughters: Connie Brewer, of Liberal, Kansas and Carol Burns, of Frederick, Oklahoma; a brother: Charles Vassar, of Altus, Oklahoma; a sister: Thelma Dowdy, of Tipton, Oklahoma; and a niece: Shirley Poole, of Tipton, Oklahoma.
