Viannah Thomas Graveside service for Minta "Viannah" Thomas, age 98, of Vernon, Texas, formerly of Davidson, Oklahoma, was at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at the Davidson Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Chadwick, officiating. Mrs. Thomas passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Wilbarger General Hospital, Vernon, Texas. Burial was in the Davidson Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, in Frederick, Oklahoma. Minta Viannah Reed was born on July 13, 1909, to Robert H. and Virginia Mae (Rabun) Reed, in Brock, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Wilson, Oklahoma, where she graduated high school. She attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and transferred to Southwestern University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor's degree and master's degree. She married Cecil E. Thomas, on September 28, 1930, in Frederick, Oklahoma. She taught school for 24 years and worked as a bookkeeper for six years, before retiring. She attended many workshops and served as President of the Tillman County Association of Classroom Teachers. She was a delegate to the Southwest District OEA and Oklahoma delegate assembly. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Iota. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Davidson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, on November 6, 1983; a son: Doyle Wayne Thomas; a brother: Haskell Reed and two sisters: Winnie Lewis and Margaret Golden. She is survived by a son: Troy Lee Thomas, of Davidson, Oklahoma.
