Angelita was known as our sweet Momo, she went with the Angels on December 12th, 2018. Momo was born December 5th, 1944, in Edinburg, Texas to Julia Pena Contreras & Luis L. Contreras. Momo was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, with her six siblings; Tomas, Erlinda, Margarito, Luis, Juan and Pedro. Momo always shared stories of going to the beach, having family dinners and taking drives with her family. In 1963, Momo met the love of her life Pete “Popo” Garza Jr. who would become her husband on February 14th, 1964. Momo would smile as she shared memories of them going to the dances or “Honky Tonk.” Momo and Popo would come to raise five children in Tipton, Oklahoma; Pauline Sue, Charlene Sue, Jacqueline Sue, Pete III and Lisa Marie Snow. Momo made it her mission to care for others and in 1984 she began her career with Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Oklahoma, until her retirement in 2011. Our Mamma took much pride in her work and everyday served great justice to the nursing field. Not only was Momo our Angel she touched the hearts of all who came to know her. In Momo’s time off she was devoted to spend every moment in the Church sometimes even preaching. She would take trips with her husband to visit their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in Oklahoma City where she loved to shop at new places, have early morning breakfast before going to garage sales, with the people who meant the world to her. “Me and Popo are going to make our rounds” as she would say. We will never forget our snacks of marranitos or late night runs to the casino with a cup of coffee or Pepsi! We will also cherish your handmade gifts of cross stitch blankets.
Our Momo loves Mickey Mouse, the color blue, pictures, scary movies, Church Songs, older country music, a good watch with the date stamp and Pens! “You can never have enough pens” she would tell us.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Julia & Luis; brother: Tomas; sister-in-law: Carmela; sister: Linda; and niece: Ester.
Momos legacy and traditions will be carried on not only by her children but also with her daughter-in-law: Lea; son-in-law: Michael; grandchildren: Shaylina Lynn and husband Antoine, Jessica Lynn, Jeremy Luis, Julian Pedro, Ramonicto Pedro, James Pete, Issiah, Sabrina, BreeAhnna and husband Troy, Michael, Christopher, Michaela, Angel, Stormee, Noah, Dakota, Princess Aliveeah, Dallis Prince, and great-grandchildren: Jada Lynn, Mya Lynn, Uriah, Prycilla, Bruce, Jeremy Jr, Jordan, Brendyn, Neveah, and Billy.
We all love you very much mamma, our Momo. You are the greatest inspiration and the best thing to ever happen in our lives. Your memory will forever be in our hearts, mind, body and soul. Your name and stories will be said and told for years to come. One day we all meet again in that mansion in the sky. Sleep with the Angels our dearest Momo. As you would say this is not goodbye, see you later. We love you, hugs and kisses.
