Beverly Harrod, born Beverly Ann Warnke, passed away on Monday 11/19/2018 at Comanche County Hospital, Lawton, OK. Beverly was born on March 28, 1935 in San Francisco, CA to parents Herman and Loretta (Suhling) Warnke. She was proud of her colorful heritage: a mixture of German, Irish, and Portuguese. During her formative years she loved her brothers and her parents and her close extended family. She graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco in 1953 and almost immediately began working for a local insurance company. She lived and worked in the City by the Bay until she met her future husband through a date set up by her best friend, and Larry’s distant cousin. From all reports, there initial meeting was a chilly affair but Larry was persistent and charming and Beverly, a quiet, beautiful woman, fell for him. They were married in September of 1961 and Beverly became a military wife. She followed him to many postings including Alabama, North Carolina, Germany, Texas and California. During these journeys her children were born and life was good. The family eventually settled in Lawton, OK with Larry’s posting at Fort Sill where they lived for most of their lives. Beverly worked at the Coca-Cola plant in Lawton for several years before beginning her career in Civil Service on Fort Sill where she retired from in 1994. After Larry’s death in 1988, she remained in Lawton for a time then moved to Fletcher, OK briefly then on to Apache OK where she lived for several years helping to raise grandson Lucas before finally settling in Frederick with her youngest daughter. Beverly was quiet but possessed a fierce love for her kids and was exceedingly proud of her grandchildren. Beverly is survived by her children: Christopher Harrod, wife Cyndi and their sons Dalton and Kellan of New York, NY; Lisa Harrod, and her son Lucas and wife Abby of Apache, OK; Tracy Harrod and son Elijah Vaughan of Frederick, OK; brothers William Warnke and Robert Warnke, both residents of California; and one special arrival that Beverly was looking forward to holding in January 2019 – her first great-grandbaby. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Larry Knight Harrod and parents Herman and Loretta Warnke. Beverly was cremated and will be laid to rest at the Fort Sill National Cemetery with her husband. The family buried Larry on his birthday and will do the same for Beverly on her next birthday – March 28, 2019.
