Darrell Wayne Kendrix

            Graveside service for Darrell Wayne Kendrix, age 73, of Elmer, Ok. will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2020 in the Altus City Cemetery,  Altus, Ok. with Dr. Randy Kendrix, nephew and pastor of First Baptist Church, Madill, officiating.

          Mr. Kendrix passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Ok.

         Burial is under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, of Frederick.

         He was born July 3, 1947, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Harvey and Lillian (Paulk) Kendrix. He attended school at Southside public schools in Elmer, Ok. and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City. He was united in marriage to Anita Mashburn on December 18, 1975, in Vernon, Tx. He served honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a farmer and a truck driver for Anadarko Dozer. More recently he worked security for the Cotton Compress in Altus. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed carpentry work, he especially loved to build things. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frederick, Ok.

            In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife: Anita on February 6, 2015; a son: Cody; two brothers: Scott and Doyle Kendrix; and a baby sister: Sharon.   

            He is survived by two sons: Shane Kendrix and wife Sara of Frederick, Ok., Brian Hutton of Moore, Ok.; a daughter: Karalee Gonzales and husband B.J. of Oklahoma City, Ok.; three brothers: Donald and wife Dorothy of Newcastle, E.B. and wife Glenda of Altus, Ok. and Harvey and wife Carol of Elmer, Ok.;  three sisters: Louise Myers of Hobbs, New Mexico, Freda Virnau, of Waco, Tx. and Karon Lowry and husband Lonnie of Broken Arrow, Ok.; five grandchildren: Thomas, Noah, Jeanna, Serenity and James.
