Donald L. "Don" Kidd

    Funeral service for Donald L. Kidd, age 81, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Kevin Kidd (son) officiating.
    Don passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Hospice of Wichita Falls. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
    He was born October 28, 1941, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Wilburn and Marie (Wynn) Kidd. He attended Weaver school (west of Frederick) and graduated from Weaver High School. Don moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and worked for Bell Helicopter. In 1963, he began work as a police officer at Fort Worth. He would have a career in law enforcement that would comprise numerous communities and agencies including Houston University Police, Frederick Police Department, Grandfield Police Department, Tipton Police Department where he served as Police Chief, and the Tillman County Sheriff ‘s Department where he recently served as a Transportation Officer. He served as the president of Crime Stoppers. When Don had moved from Fort Worth back to Frederick, he worked as the parts manager at G & R Implement. Also, he worked for Box Inc., RECAP, and Frederick Ace Hardware. He worked as a security guard for Brink Auction. Don spent time working as a painter, carpenter, and general handyman. He performed countless odd jobs for numerous people in and around Frederick. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Frederick. 
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Karen Sue (Hefner) Kidd; and a sister: Myrna Frimmel.
    Survivors include a son: Kevin Kidd and wife Stacie, of Wichita Falls, Texas; four daughters: Kari Harris and husband Brad, of Paradise, Texas, Callie Randall and husband Jason, of Arlington, Texas, Corrie Jones and husband Jarred, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Kellie Skelton, of Frederick; grandchildren: Robert, Kaleb, Karen, Kraig, Kristan, Madaline, Brayden, Tiffany, Mikah, Cooper, Chloe, Kyle, Landri, and Whitlee; and 18 great grandchildren.
