Memorial service for Herman H. Riley, age 82, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Alvin Funkhouser, minister of Hobart, Oklahoma, officiating.
Mr. Riley passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was born August 6, 1941, in Caddo, Oklahoma (Bryan County) to Luther Edward and Ethel (Long) Riley. He attended school at Wapanucka, where he was active in FFA. He graduated from Wapanucka High School with the Class of 1959. When he was young, Herman lived in California, where he worked as a forest firefighter. He also worked on the Alaska pipeline. He spent the majority of his career working as a technician in telephone communications. He traveled extensively with his job to many places including Afghanistan and Dubai. He was united in marriage to Pasika Chootiam on November 9, 2015, at Hobart, Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He also liked traveling to the ocean and he loved scuba-diving. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Luther Edward Riley in 1952, and Ethel Long Riley in 1996; a daughter: Sandy; siblings: Marvin Matthew, Ed Matthew, Jessie Matthew, Melvin Matthew, Royce Riley, Larry Riley, Lorene Bates, Marie Montgomery, Jewel Cox, Dee Walker, and Mildred “Ginger” Taylor.
Survivors include his wife: Pasika (Jem) Riley, of the home; two daughters: Amy Riley and Doree Rogers, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters: Barbara Combs and husband Donnie, of Frederick, and Glenda Dyer, of Grandfield; three grandchildren: Tiffany, David, and Andrew; and one great grandchild: Noah; and a host of nieces and nephews.
