Jerry Shempert
Funeral for Jerry Don Shempert, age 54, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Brandon Steed, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating.
Jerry passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at a Lawton, Oklahoma, hospital. Burial will be in the Fort Sill National Cemetery at Elgin, Oklahoma (beside his dad).
He was born November 12, 1966, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Tommy Don and Della Simmons. He was a lifelong resident of Frederick. He attended Frederick schools and received his diploma, graduating Frederick High School in 1986, where he was a member of the American Industrial Arts Student Association. He worked in several different jobs, including: Frederick Radio Shack 1986-1987 cleaning and assembling pre-fabricated furniture, Frederick Leader 1988-1995 delivering newspapers and collecting subscription fees; Goodwill Industries in Lawton 1996-1998 sorting donations and picking up donations, Paul Rogers 1998-2011 cleaning houses between renters, and most recently beginning in 2011 he was a volunteer assistant for the Tillman County Defense helping weather radar watch and broadcasting radio communications also. Jerry was an avid football fan and loved to cheer for both the Frederick Bombers and the Tipton Tigers. He had attended Tesca Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents: Floyd and Blanch Key.
Survivors include a brother: Michael Shempert, of Waynesville, Missouri; numerous close friends and a countless acquaintances in the community that he loved. Jerry never met a stranger.
