Memorial service for James Melvin “Jim” Willson, age 79, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Brent Morey and Rev. Brandon Steed, Bible Baptist Church, officiating.
Mr. Willson passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.
He was born April 10, 1940, in Frederick, Oklahoma, the only child of James Matthew Willson and Otha Fern (Huff) Willson. He grew up in Frederick and attended Frederick Schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 1958. When he was young he traveled to Norway, Canada, Mexico and Yellowstone. In 1965, he attended a Cutting Horse School in Merkle, Texas. Later he attended an insurance school as well. He worked as a farm and ranch hand through the years, but really enjoyed operating a Quarter Horse Ranch with his dad and then continuing to operate it after his dad passed away. He was united in marriage to Nancy Charlyne Wofford on February 28, 2002, in Frederick. He was a lifelong Methodist and had attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Frederick.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife: Nancy, of the home; and an aunt: Johnnie Willson, Snyder, Texas; and several cousins.
