Funeral service for Helen “Joyce” Ufer, age 77, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. James Johnson, pastor of Lighthouse Assembly of God, officiating.
Mrs. Ufer passed away at Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
She was born December 3, 1940, in Hardin, Illinois, to Charles James and Velma Lucille (Weaver) Kroeschel. She attended school in Jerseyville, Illinois and graduated from Jersey Community High School. She was united in marriage to Glendon Earl Ufer I on December 15, 1956, in Hardin, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1981. She worked many years as a cook at the Frederick Senior Citizens Center, and then she worked at Frederick Memorial Hospital as a cook until her retirement.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Elizabeth Cordes and a son: Douglas W. Ufer in 1996.
She is survived by five sons: Jerry Dean Ufer, Hamburg, Illinois, Jeff Ufer and Steve Ufer, of Frederick, Oklahoma, Glenn Ufer and wife Stephanie, of Wyoming, Michigan, and Charles L. Ufer, of Frederick; a daughter: Susan Phillips and husband David, of Elk City, Oklahoma; companion: Darrell Ufer, of the home in Frederick, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
