Lynn Hayes

October 25, 1927 — May 28, 2019

            Celebration of Life memorial service for longtime Tillman County resident Roy Lynn Hayes, age 91, will be held on Saturday June 1st 2:00pm at The Territory Cowboy Church (formerly Bethel Baptist Church) 4 miles west and 2 miles north of Frederick, with the Reverend Les Banks officiating.

Mr. Hayes went to be with his Lord and Saviour on May 28th at his home surrounded by his loving family after a five year battle with dementia. He now has eternal peace after a full and

fruitful life.

Lynn was born October 25th, 1927 in Tillman County to Olan and Ruth Johnson Hayes. He attended IXL and Frederick Schools. He was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Lynn was united in marriage to Bernice Walls on November 24th, 1948. They established their

home three miles west and one and one-half miles north of Davidson where Lynn farmed most

of his life. Bernice preceded him in death April 16th, 2009. Lynn and Bernice were blessed with

two sons, Darrell and Doug Hayes. Lynn was a Christian man a much loved and respected

husband, Dad, Grandpa and friend.

In addition to farming Lynn served on numerous boards including Davidson School Board, RECAP, ASCOG, Tillman County Commissioner, Tillman County Hospital and Ambulance as well as the Tillman Baptist Association.

He enjoyed flying his Piper Cherokee 140 and competing in Tractor Pull events with his John Deere 4320, “Clod Buster”. Lynn always loved trucks and hauled peanuts and hay for many area farms and dairies.

Left to cherish his memories are his son: Doug Hayes and wife Julie of Frederick;

granddaughter: Jill Hayes Martin and husband David of Comanche; grandson Chris Hayes of

Weatherford; four great grandsons: Colton Martin, Calin Martin and Conner Martin all of

Comanche, and Riot Christopher Hayes of Weatherford; one sister Doris Neely of Frederick;

many other family members and valued friends; and an angel sent by God to be his caregiver

the last five years Anna Cope.

Lynn was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, his son Darrell, his parents, his sister Joyce Wilburn and an infant granddaughter Susan Marie Hayes.

Interment will be in the Frederick Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
