A memorial graveside service for Manuel Eskamire, age 79, of Wichita Falls, Texas, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery with a United States Army Chaplain officiating and U.S. Army military honors provided from Fort Sill.
Mr. Eskamire passed away on September 18th, 2020, at his home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, of Frederick.
He was born in 1941, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Caine and Lucille (Medina) Eskamire. At the age of 20, he joined the Navy for four years. On February 14, 1965, he was united in marriage to Joyce Marie Linszey at Santa California. He was honorably discharged in 1965. He joined the Army, serving three years, with a tour in the Republic of Vietnam. Manuel was given the Army Commendation medal for meritorious service in Vietnam for the period of 1966-1967 by the President of the United States. He was given honorable discharge as an E-5 Sergeant in 1968. He settled with his wife and kids in New Orleans, Louisiana. He worked for Pellrin Milnor for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was a larger -than- life personality from a small town. He had a drive to achieve in life for his family. His greatest love was being a father. He was honest, loyal and a faithful friend. He was a good judge of character and had no time for phonies. He loved Elvis, westerns, photography, cooking and spending time in his community. The memories made with his children and family are forever treasured.
He is survived in legacy by his two sons and daughter: Mario Marshall, Steve Eskamire, and Magda (E.) Nelson of New Orleans; six grandchildren; Mario A. Marshall Jr., My'raia Fluker, Edana Eskamire, Sheldon Stockstill Jr., Marley Nelson, and Hendrix Nelson, all of New Orleans; two sisters: Francis Hampton of Frederick, and Juanita Stapleton, of Wichita Fall, Texas; two brothers: Kenny Eskamire, of Seymour, Texas, and Raymond Luna, of Wichita Falls, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Caine Eskamire and Lucille Medina; an uncle: Ernesto Medina; and his beloved brother: John "Johnny" Eskamire.
