Maria (Lupe) Olivas

            Funeral mass for Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” (Ramirez) Olivas, age 87, of Davidson, Oklahoma, will be held Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church, in Frederick, with Reverend Fr. David Joseph, pastor, officiating. (*In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, social distancing will observed).

            Mrs. Olivas passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at her home in Davidson, surrounded by her loving family. Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. (*Once again, in an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, social distancing will observed).

            Burial will be in the Hackberry Flat Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, of Frederick.

            She was born June 14, 1933, in Salinas Victoria N.L. Mexico, to Bernardino and Carmen (Rivera) Ramirez. After her primary and secondary schooling, she had some college. She was united in marriage to Gonzalo Olivas on January 19, 1963, in the Nuestra Senoria de Guadalupe Catholic Church. They moved to Davidson in 1964, where her husband worked as a farm laborer. Lupe enjoyed cooking, sewing and even household chores were a passion of hers. She was a member of Saint Helen’s Catholic Church of Frederick.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Gonzalo Olivas on October 19, 2003; five sisters; six brothers; and a granddaughter.

            Survivors include four sons: Martin Olivas and wife Maria A., Gonzalo Olivas Jr., Javier Olivas, and Gerardo Olivas and wife Paulita, all of Davidson; a daughter: Mari Ester Olivas, of Mexico; a sister: Maria Del Roble, of Mexico; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
